Up until now we were planning to have our first brevet, the “Swiss Cheese and Mountain Madness”, accredited by the Audax Club Parisien as an “official” brevet (also knows as “BRM” or “Brevet des Randonneurs Mondiaux”). However, after some difficulties with that process, and after some soul-searching, we decided to drop this idea and remain “officially unofficial”.
This doesn’t change much about our event. We still adhere to the philosophy and even the main rules of how brevets are organized: Our rides are not races but adventures (no rankings), they are self-supported, and we still challenge you to make it back within the official 40-hour time limit (to claim the ironic title of “unofficially official randonneur”). As an added bonus, not being ACP accredited allows us to decrease the price of registration.
For riders who need to participate in BRM accredited events, for example those who try to get into PBP in 2019, there is an organization in Switzerland that provides official BRM rides: They’re called Audax-Suisse and having done the 300, 400 and 600 brevets with them ourselves, we can only recommend their events.
This said, we hope you are still looking as much forward to our Swiss Cheese & Mountain Madness brevet as we are.
See you in July and all the best,
ACP / S&R
